IN TOUCH WITH YOUR DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors would like to thank all of you for supporting USSA. We will update this information as a result in any changes that may affect your decisions for the upcoming year.
Released 4-14-10 Mark Powers USSA VP (pow100@aol.com)
(Champ) Recommend to ISR at spring meeting 2010 to open the Champ ignition rule to read “Ignition systems may be modified and changed”. This will allow teams an alternate option with ignitions.
*** Champ is a core class this is a recommendation only, ignition rule may or may not be changed dependant on ISR meeting in May we will update the web with ISR rule changes after finalized***
(All Classes with Rounds) We will now point the heats to reflect finish without an added penalty for a DNF. Currently drivers would be given 10 points no matter where you were at the time of breakdown or crash. We will now point you at the position finished.
(All Classes with Rounds) We will no longer penalize drivers 15 points if you do not start a heat. We will give you points based on number of sleds in the class. (Last place plus 1 point).
(All Classes with Rounds) In the event multiple drivers end up in a tie and we must use an LCQ we will allow all remaining drivers to participate in the LCQ with the opportunity to make the final. Currently only those who are tied would be allowed to participate.
(Vintage) USSA has agreed to incorporate Vintage classes to cover the most common participants within our regular daily schedule in hopes of drawing and developing a regular Vintage presence at our events.
(Stock Sprint) We have opened up the class engine definition to allow all 0 to 600 CC motors as defined by class rules. Previously 440cc or lower were not allowed to run.
(F500) Recommend to ISR that this become a “Core Class” with governed consistent rules across the country. This should help with the discrepancies between sanctioning bodies. We will also recommend that the class rules remain in the ISR book as currently written without changes.
Junior Novice Ages 10-11 Arctic Cat; Puma/Jag 340 and Z 370, Polaris; Indy Lite 340, Indy 340, Indy 340 Deluxe and 340 Edge, Skidoo; Formula S368, MXZ 380, Freestyle 300, and Tundra 300, Yamaha; Ovation 340 & legal F-500 sleds (The f-500 sled must be restricted in the following manner to be able to compete. The gear ratio is fixed at 15/39 and a carburetor restrictor plate must be used between the carburetor mounting boot and the cylinder. Restrictor plates are available from the USSA Director of Competition and have a deposit required)
Junior 1 Ages 11-13 Same sleds as Junior Novice 11 year old can run both. USSA may re-evaluate gearing restriction as the field of competition establishes itself.
Junior 11 Ages 14-15 Any stock qualified fan cooled snowmobile up to 600cc and/or unrestricted F500.
Junior 11 Sprint Ages 14-15 Remains same for 2010-11. Recommend to be replaced with the Limited Chassis platform and stock motor/pipe after 6-30-11
Junior 1 Sprint (No Longer Offered)
USSA has agreed on a system to gain additional junior teams. We will continue to run junior classes on both Saturday and Sunday, When a competitor enters a junior class on Saturday paying regular class entry fee then returns to compete in the same classes on Sunday only an administration fee of $15 per class will be charged. We will only point the Sunday results. If a competitor chooses to run the Sunday Classes only the regular class entry fee structure will be used.
(F500 Women’s) We will offer a Women’s only F500 class at all events this year and will run the event if we get 2 takers! Come out and show the boys how to do it!
(Schedule of Events) In an effort to help the promoter maintain attendance USSA will be assigning a time at each day’s event to run the Final’s in both 600 open and Champ. We will rearrange the schedule as necessary to ensure these finals are ran.
USSA will be eliminating the current trailer used for registration. We decided to convert the smaller trailer we already own to conserve funds instead of purchasing a new one. This will save on repair and towing expenses. Look for a different registration trailer first race next year.
No other changes are being considered at this time.
